Living and working in Hounslow

This is an area rich in diversity – we boast some of the most affluent parts of West London as well as areas affected by social economic challenges. Our communities are also ethnically diverse.

Hounslow has a resident population of approximately 288,200 (2021 Census figures) of which 6.3% are aged under 5 years.

44% of Hounslow’s population identify themselves as from Asian or Black and Minority Ethnic background (BME) and the ethnic minority population is projected to continue to grow rapidly.

Celebrating a diverse community

Increased migration and a growing birth rate leads to classrooms with a large number of children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and a variety of cultures and beliefs. Our schools also teach children with a wide range of individual needs ranging from Gifted and Talented (G&T) to Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those who are from identified vulnerable groups.

We are proud of our diverse classrooms and believe in supporting all children and providing education which takes account of their individual needs and circumstances.

We believe this social, economic and ethnic diversity should be celebrated and that a classroom full of pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds provides plenty of opportunities for learning, growth and success.
