Hounslow operates two NQT recruitment campaigns for those who are currently completing their (UK) NQT studies (PGCE or similar route) and will be planning to start their Induction Year in September 2012, at either Primary or Secondary level. We have a wide range of benefits and opportunities to offer in our 70 schools across the borough. Please see our Primary and Secondary pages. Please note that these two campaigns are not available for Overseas Trained Teachers.
In addition to completing your ITT studies, your initial training is the first stage of your professional development. Once you have been awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and begun teaching, you will start your induction period. The aim of induction is to help NQTs to develop into confident and competent professionals. The Induction Programme in schools should combine support, monitoring and assessment of your performance as a new teacher. It will be tailored to your needs. The headteacher will be in overall charge of your Induction Programme and will either be your Induction Tutor, or delegate this to a senior member of staff.
Hounslow has built an excellent reputation for the quality of support, advice and training offered to teachers as they start their careers. Central to this provision is the well-regarded Primary NQT Induction Programme. OFSTED has praised Hounslow for its monitoring, support and assessment of NQTs and said that training provision was both flexible and relevant to the needs of NQTs.
Advice and assistance on a range of issues relevant to new staff, such as salary and conditions of service, is also available through the CS&LL HR Team or available via www.hvec.org.uk - Hounslow’s Virtual Education Centre.
Don't forget the new Hounslow Teachers Network - the online, private forum for existing Hounslow staff. Please click here for more information.
