Every school has a Governing Body which is involved in the senior leadership and management of the school, working alongside the Headteacher.
Governing Bodies are made up of members of the school and local community, parent governors and representatives from the Local Authority. The Governing Body will meet regularly to determine the schools managment and may deal with a wide range of issues from safeguarding and child protection, attainment and targets, school initiatives, facilities, staffing, budgets and finance. Being a Governor is a strategic and voluntary (unpaid) role, which can provide a great insight and involvement into a school.
